A Mastodon server’s “landing page” is the page shown when people visit the server’s website without logging in. Mastodon admins can adjust their server’s landing page in their server settings:
- Log into your server’s website or web app with your admin account
- Go to Preferences > Administration > Server Settings
- Scroll down to the “Landing page for new visitors” section and select the landing page type you want on your server
- Click the Save Changes button
I’ve tried altering the settings but the landing page doesn’t work?
Some of the landing page types require certain other settings to also be activated for them to work.
To use the “Overview” and “Local Live Feed” landing page options you need to go to Preferences > Administration > Server Settings > Discovery > Public Timelines > Access To Live Feeds Featuring Local Posts, select “Everyone” from the dropdown menu, then click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.
To use the “Trending” landing page option you need to go to Preferences > Administration > Server Settings > Discovery > Trends, tick the “Enable Trends” box, then click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.
I can’t see these landing page options in my server’s settings?
These landing page options were introduced in Mastodon v4.6.0. If your server is running an older version of Mastodon’s server software, you won’t see these options.
