You can optionally import data from Instagram accounts to Pixelfed:
- Log onto your Pixelfed server’s website
- Click Account Settings
- Click Import
- Re-enter your Pixelfed password for security
- Click the Import button and select the ZIP file you got from Instagram
It says I have not been permitted to use this feature?
If you see this message, it’s nothing personal! It just means the Instagram import feature has been switched off on your server.
If a server is overwhelmed with new members, they often switch off Instagram imports to prevent the server crashing. Importing accounts takes up a lot of resources so it tends to get switched off if the server is having lots of new signups.
You might consider signing up on a different Pixelfed server if the one you are on is constantly overwhelmed.
